Judge Oseguera is honored to serve the people of Mecklenburg County as a District Court Judge, where she is committed to fairness, impartiality, and respect for every individual who comes before the court. With a strong legal foundation, extensive judicial experience, and deep involvement in the legal community, Judge Oseguera has dedicated her career to upholding justice and strengthening public trust in the courts.

In 2022, Judge Oseguera was appointed to the District Court bench. Later that same year, she was elected by the people of Mecklenburg County, reflecting both the confidence of state leadership and the trust of local voters.

Before her appointment to the bench, Judge Oseguera served for 17 years as an Assistant Federal Public Defender, representing individuals in complex federal cases and gaining extensive trial and appellate experience. She has also been called upon to serve as a substitute Federal Magistrate Judge in the Western District of North Carolina, further demonstrating the trust placed in her by the judiciary.

Judge Oseguera brings a unique blend of academic achievement and practical experience to the bench. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), her Juris Doctor from Whittier Law School, and later pursued advanced legal training by earning a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Financial Services Compliance from Seton Hall University School of Law.

Beyond her service on the bench, Judge Oseguera is deeply engaged in the legal and broader Mecklenburg County community. She is a member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference. She also serves on the Mecklenburg County Bar Board of Directors. Judge Oseguera has long been an active participant in Bar programs, including Lunch With a Lawyer, which connects attorneys and judges with students interested in legal careers. She also served as President of the Mecklenburg Hispanic Lawyers Bar, where she worked to promote mentorship, professional development, and broader access to the legal profession.

In her years on the District Court Bench, Judge Oseguera has presided over cases involving families, civil disputes, and criminal matters, always with a focus on fairness, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. She believes that judges must not only apply the law with diligence but also serve as a bridge between the courts and the community. Her service demonstrates a dedication to ensuring that Mecklenburg County’s courts remain accessible, fair, and efficient for all.

Judge Oseguera is seeking re-election to continue this important work and to build on her record of judicial leadership, community service, and commitment to justice.
